Their purpose is promoting public service across the nation and centralizing environmental resources into one user-friendly network.
     Read about air and water issues and what is being done around the US to help conserve and to protect air and water from becoming contaminated. -SNS  
     The site has practical tips and information for households regarding waste and recycling. -SLG
     Fun and informative activities and games for children are readily available as well as a search system that helps you find local recycling centers to discard of cell phones or batteries. -KMR
     Great website featuring everything you need to know about local efforts: from disposing of batteries to a list of 50 things you can do to help clean the air. -LOL
     An exhaustive resource for finding information about protecting the environment, often straight from government and scientific sources. A handy feature is quickly locating all types of recycling centers. -JGP

     This organization is all about activism, as its name suggests.  It was founded 35 years ago by a group of Americans concerned about industrial toxins contaminating the air and water supplies. They organized the inaugural Earth Day in 1970, and have looked to the future ever since. The website focuses on individual activism and promoting legislation to protect the environment.
     A well-formatted site with information on protecting the forests, cleaner air and other aspects of the environment. Also features employment opportunities with the organization. -LOL
       This site offers many activism opportunities and information about government policies, but not much about what we in our every day lives can do to sustain the environment. - JGP
     
This site has a lot of information about global warming, and what needs to be done to stop it, in ones own daily life, and on the political front. Also has lots of opportunities to get involved with the organization. - DIR

     "Founded in 1967, this organization includes highly trained scientists and economists.  It connects with corporations and governments to institute policies to help the environment. They have an established track record of "victories," which lend to their effectiveness. they are dedicated to "protecting the environmental rights of all people, including future generations. Among these rights are clean air, clean water, healthy, nourishing food and a flourishing ecosystem."
    
Provides an opportunity for people to contribute to the environment by giving donations. Now also allows people to get involved in a variety of issues to help the environment and people. -KHK
     A very useful site that allows you to read about the different programs they have implemented to tackle important environmental issues. Also, find out how ED links science, economics and law to create solutions to society's environmental problems. -SNS
     Offers a fantastic list of books describing our earth's deserts, oceans, endangered forests, and animals. Also enlightens readers about our friends in the sea and which of them can be hazardous to consume. The recipe page gives a wide variety of delicious dishes to make with fish that don't pose a threat to one's health. - KMR
     Great site for anyone from the casually interested to the greatly involved. Includes great features like up-to-date press releases and funding of great causes for the environment. -LOL

     The website is very informative in that it presents many accomplishments of the organization. There are many political critiques and information on current environmental programs. I'd like to see a little more about what individuals can do, besides donating money. -JGP 

     Extensive information about what they have already accomplished, and what the next steps are to help the environment. They seem to be very able to handle government policies, and work to improve them. Good amount of information on simple things that can be done by everyday people to help the environment. - DIR

     Great website with plenty of information to satisfy any curiosity. Features a great way to get children involved on the Green Squad link. -LOL
    
The organization has a lot of great information for how to help with different aspects of the environment. Their plans sound very effective and it seems like that have a good hold on governments as well. - DIR

     This site is colorful and easy to navigate. An interesting issue on this site concerns Al Gore's involvement with a major petroleum company; this company's drilling will have a profound effect on the culture of the U ' wa, a Colombian tribe.
     A user-friendly site where you can look at interesting facts about rainforests and what you can do to help conserve them. Find out how to volunteer, make a donation or even protect an acre. -SNS
     Contains current information about where large groups and companies obtain their raw materials, like wood. There is also a portal to rainforest information from all over the world. -SLG
     This site is extremely up-to-date, providing articles on environmental concerns on a daily basis. - KMR

     An international nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of tropical forests for the benefit of the global community.
     "Our mission is to protect ecosystems and the people and wildlife that live within them by implementing better business practices for biodiversity conservation and sustainability."
    It provides information on conservation-related events, eco-friendly tips about farming and where to buy eco-friendly rainforest and agricultural products. This site also offers education kits for teachers and suggests fun activities for kids to promote their appreciation of the environment. -JEH
     A very helpful site where you can read about conservation programs implemented to protect rainforests. Also, check out the links to upcoming events. -SNS
     The Adopt-A-Rainforest program is a particularly delightful way to get young children in classrooms involved in helping to save their rainforests. -KMR
     A great website that not only endorses donations to rainforest and endangered species funds, but also to people greatly affected by recent rainforest and native land removal. -LOL
   
This website lets people know what they can do to help save rainforests like buying products with the Rainforest Alliance Certified Seal of Approval. They have a lot of great looking programs to educate people about what's really going on in the world concerning the environment. - DIR

 Great website, address' lots of environmental issues. They have been working for over a hundred years and have accomplished a lot of great things. They were the ones that led to the development of our countries national parks in the early 1900s, and now they are engaged in saving the rest of the earth's wildlife. - DIR
