     A not-for-profit organization "to build just and peaceful societies in Central America." Founded in 1988, when former president and Nobel Prize for Peace winner, Dr. Oscar Arias Sánchez, pledged to dedicate the monetary value of the award to the promotion of peace and development in Central America.
     A nicely designed website. Most of the in-depth information on activities and programs is in Spanish. However, it does offer links to other service organizations that provide information in English. If one is interested in volunteering or learning more about certain issues in Latin America and is knowledgeable in Spanish, this website is definitely worth a visit. -APK

     A non-governmental organization to improve the human rights situation in Colombia and build solidarity between the peoples of North America and Colombia. It works for non-violent resolution of conflict and opposes violence from all parties (paramilitaries, armed forces, police, guerrillas and urban militias) in Colombia.
     A user-friendly website that offers a look into the problems currently facing Columbia and the CSN's plans to counter the situation. There are news articles from various newspapers and magazines ranging from the New York Times to the Irish Times, which can also serve as a source of information.
This site usually offers links to other service organizations doing work in Latin America, but that page is currently under construction. -APK

     Derechos, meaning "rights" in Spanish, is a new human rights organization. Works for respect of human rights all over the world. Believes distributing human rights information, analyses and action are essential. Cooperates with human rights organizations in Latin America and the world.
     A very well designed and organized website that offers extensive information on human rights issues throughout the world as well as links to publications dealing with similar topics. It also provides links to other service organizations and volunteer opportunities. -APK
     Offers an interactive option with the Derecho Cafe and opportunities to share opinions and ideas with others with similar interests. An excellent resource for students of all levels. A visit is highly recommended.

     A human rights organization that unites the sons and daughters of persons who disappeared and were politically hounded during the last military dictatorship in Argentina. Counters impunity that the Argentinean government gave those responsible for the genocide that took place in the Seventies and resulted in the disappearance of 30,000 persons.
      A large part of this site is incomplete and still under construction. At the time, only a brief look into the objective of HIJOs is available in English, Spanish and French. -APK

There are also explanations of the conflicts and their need for attention from the global community, which is an excellent resource for anyone wishing to just learn more about the world around them.
