mission is to foster public policies, human-service reforms and community
support that more effectively meet the needs of today's vulnerable
children and families. In pursuit of this goal, the foundation makes
grants that help states, cities and communities fashion more innovative,
cost-effective responses to these needs. This is a good site where
you can read about its work and programs that battle child poverty. Also, read about
Kids Count, a "national, state-by-state effort to track the status of

with child welfare issues, programs and

One of the largest and oldest national nonprofit
organizations dedicated to meeting the physical, emotional, educational
and spiritual needs of abused and neglected children. We do so by focusing
our efforts and resources in the areas of treatment, prevention and
research. This site includes a "Kids Only" section, which speaks directly
to children and tells them how to recognize and report abuse.
This site has many
wonderful sources of information on child abuse and relevant programs. It
also provides helpful links to further your search on child abuse issues.
It features some preventative measures that children can take if they are

treatment and prevention of child abuse and neglect. Assistance includes
child and family assessment, sexual abuse treatment, domestic violence
intervention and family treatment, Early Head Start program, therapeutic
day care, child health clinic, long-term foster care and substance abuse
treatment and prevention services. Serves children and families from L.A. County, but the majority come from
high-speed, low-resource communities... CII's professional
multi-disciplinary training program extends its compassionate scope of
assistance throughout California, the nation, and internationally, as
well. This site addresses the
issues of child abuse and neglect. It provides the public with information
on available programs, services, training and related links.

Works to assure a child the
frequent, meaningful and continuing contact with two parents and extended
family the child would normally have if his or her parents were
married. We work to strengthen families through education, favoring
family formation and family preservation. CRC is genderless; we are
not a women's group or a men's group. Rather we advocate what we believe
to be in the best interests of children, including the "Children's Bill
of Rights. This site
