Hearts & Minds works to help as many people as possible. It does this with a wide range of programs to inspire, educate and empower millions of people. These include its website, newsletter, youth programs, and grassroots public education and activist campaigns, volunteer referrals and self-help. It also provides on-the-job training for its own volunteers. The Hearts & Minds website www.change.net is a portal to effective self-help and volunteering information. It links to over 900 helpful resources for NYC, the USA and worldwide. More than 7 million people have downloaded over 27 million articles of valuable information from the website. Hearts & Minds volunteers have translated parts of the website into 10 other languages. They are now revamping the entire 600-plus page website to make it more attractive and easier to find useful information as quickly as possible. This is part of Hearts & Minds long-term plans to build an ever larger Global Survival CampaignSM (GSC) to directly address the roots of terrorism, poverty and the environment. These urgent problems are not fully addressed. Any one of these issues could threaten the lives of billions of people, all future generations - and us. With our slogan You Can Change the World - Here's HowSM, this growing campaign works to inspire, educate and empower the public. We the people can powerfully advocate the most effective solutions. The first focus of Hearts & Minds' long-term GSC is the End Poverty CampaignSM, a nationwide, grassroots public education and advocacy effort. It works to more quickly end extreme hunger and poverty worldwide. No other organization has such am ambitious, innovative and achievable platform. Every issue of the Hearts & Minds Newsletter covers important topics including poverty, terrorism, the environment and addictions. The newsletter offers easy but effective ways that even very busy people can make a difference in their lives, families, communities and world. Hearts & Minds organizes and promotes letter writing campaigns. These focus on upgrading education; helping people live better through economic, nutritional and health improvements; obtaining humanitarian assistance for Darfur and Sudanese refugees; finding a lasting resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; suggesting ways to win the peace in Iraq and Afghanistan; supporting criminal justice reforms, and other important issues Hearts & Minds also created Youth for ChangeSM and Seniors for ChangeSM programs teach young people and seniors about arts, communications and activism for Global SurvivalSM issues while helping them express their concerns to people all over the world.
