"Searchable database of over 1,000 national,
international, model, and online self-help support groups for any specific illness,
disability, addiction, bereavement situation, parenting, caregiver concern, abuse, or
other stressful life situation. Suggestions for starting groups."
The American Self-Help
Clearinghouse provides extensive info and listings for a wide range of issues.
This NJ-based clearinghouse offers manuals and guides, most
of which are not free. There is also a group directory, which you must pay for as well.
The list of mental health resources gives you an actual list of places, but no other
information about them, such as e-mail addresses or websites. This really could be
improved. - TAL

"The National Self-Help Clearinghouse is a
not-for-profit organization that was founded in 1976 to facilitate access to self-help
groups and increase the awareness of the importance of mutual support. The clearinghouse
provides a number of services."
The National Self-Help Clearinghouse contains
extensive information on issues concerning self-help.
I disagree. I think this site offers very little
information, and the sites that it links to are much more helpful than the actual
clearinghouse. - TAL

"To help coordinate various components of the mental health
field so as to bring about greater communication between them and to educate the public
about mental health issues."
This site offers a great amount of information on
all aspects of mental help. There are many different services and resources,
including self-assessment tools to help you measure the extent of your problems with
things such as A.D.D., depression, alcoholism, etc. - TAL
