live a smoke-free life |

A smoking addiction can seem difficult to

"...a non-profit tax-exempt
legal action antismoking organization, based in the United States, that has been solely
devoted to the many problems of smoking for over 36 years. Its principal activity is to
serve as the legal action arm of the nonsmoking community, bringing or joining in legal
actions concerning smoking, and insuring that the voice of the nonsmoker is heard. It also
serves as an advocate of the nonsmokers' rights movement."
This website is updated frequently and has more
information on it than most other sites on the topic. It has interesting articles as well
as a search engine on the site designed to make what you're looking for easy to find. - TAL
The site has information about current news,
and
you may look in its archives for past news. The site also shows a huge list of
studies that give smoking facts and statistics. This site is international and can be
translated into other languages. -OCC

"... dedicated to building a
world where young people reject tobacco and anyone can quit ....The foundation has two goals
that guide its work toward creating tobacco-free generations: to arm all young people with
the knowledge and tools to reject tobacco, and to eliminate disparities in access to
tobacco prevention and cessation services."
This site is very attractive and easy to navigate.
Everything is broken up into sections and sub-sections. The site offers news, facts and
press releases, as do most of these sites, but also offers a program in
which you can arrange
for someone to give an interactive presentation/speech on the topic at your school or
business. It also offers various links to places that can help you quit smoking. - TAL
I agree that this is one of the most helpful sites listed on
this page. In addition to the above information this site also gives a list of facts and
statistics. The site gives specific information for both teen and adult age
groups. -OCC

"...the only national lobbying
organization dedicated to nonsmokers' rights, taking on the tobacco industry at all levels
of government to protect nonsmokers from secondhand smoke and youth from tobacco
addiction. ANR pursues an action-oriented program of policy and legislation."
This site is more focused on the nonsmokers than
advocating that smokers quit. This is a unique site, with tons of different ways to take
action. There is information on passing a clean indoor air ordinance, and helping to
get rid of smoking in airports, as well as dozens of smoke-free ads. I like this site
a lot. - TAL
This site also gives information about upcoming events
in which you can
take action. The site shows new statistics, articles, and ads about smoking. It also
talks about tricks that smoking companies use to make you buy them and then hurt yourself
with them. This site is easy to navigate and very helpful, especially when it comes to a
US citizen's rights. -OCC

"... working in
the community to achieve four goals: Promote adult and youth cessation of tobacco
products ... Reduce the number of youth initiating tobacco use... Reduce everyone's exposure
to secondhand smoke... Reduce disparities among populations impacted by tobacco."
The intro to the site is interactive and
eye-catching. It's great and it made me want to browse the site. The rest of the site
doesn't exactly live up to the expectations that the intro sets. It isn't quite as
interactive, but has different useful resources and facts. -TAL
The site contains information about how
to quit and FAQs about smoking and quitting. The site also gives connections to current
studies that are being done about smoking. -OCC

"... to motivate youth to stay tobacco-free, and to
empower smokers to quit successfully. The goals of the foundation are: to establish

empower those suffering from tobacco addiction to quit successfully, through our websites
and other educational venues... to enact peer teaching programs, empowering youth to defend
themselves against the onslaught of advertising and peer pressure... and to implement
programs to remind physicians to take a proactive role with their smoking patients,
intervening and asking them to quit."
This site gives information for how to reach the young
crowd, as that is when most smokers begin their horrible habit. The site includes
educational videos, and motivational talks. It also gives a message to adults and people
who are trying to quit. -OCC
