Working Groups
Ways to volunteer with us

Gain experience in strategic planning and implementation. Experienced people collaborate with those who would like to help and learn. Participate from anywhere in the world via e-mail, phone, or fax.

Choose what you like
Develop your skills in your choice of the wide range of activities listed below.

Even if you are fairly new to an activity, you still can help and learn from others. You can later switch groups, if you like. Over time, you will find increasing responsibilities and opportunities.

       You can Contact Us with your selections.

For example:

1 (your first choice) Public Relations
2 (your second choice) Arts
Etc., up to four groups

       In the working group(s) you select, you will get to choose the specialized activities you like. For example, in the Public Relations working group, you can write press releases and/or contact the media.

       Working groups are collaborative. Join in brainstorming meetings and group efforts or work on your own.

END POVERTY CAMPAIGN (EPC) – Hearts & Minds is building a nationwide End Poverty Campaign the most ambitious, innovative and achievable platform of any non-profit organization.

This is the first stage of our long term plans to build an even larger Global Survival CampaignSM to help get to the roots of Poverty, Terrorism, and the Environment.

GENERAL participate in our full range of activities

MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS
Marketing & Publishing
choose from strategic planning, circulation promotion, production, direct mail and other marketing activities.

Marketing Research surveys and focus groups to evaluate and improve our effectiveness.

Journalism research, writing and editing articles for our website and newsletter.

Public Relations for our national publicity campaigns: press releases and other marketing materials. Contact major media, including newspapers, magazines, radio, television and the Internet.

Advertising - General use and development of skills in advertising and marketing to promote Hearts & Minds and its publications. Not yet active: public-service ad campaigns to reach millions of people about poverty, the environment and other important issues.

Ad Sales for our website and/or print publications.

Fund Raising choose from direct mail, corporate, foundation, personal solicitation, and/or planned giving.

Events Planning active on a small scale at this time: organize fund-raising events.

Volunteer Recruitment & Personnel recruit, supervise and communicate with volunteers and interns in our office and all over the world (via fax, phone or e-mail).

COMPUTERS, TECH & WEBSITE
Computers/Technical Support
for computers, printers, phones, software and website.

Website Design, Programming and Development – can include website editing, design, management, promotion, website hosting, software, and computers. We are Web programming can involve PHP, MySQL, JavaScript or other programs.

CREATIVE & GRAPHIC DESIGN
Arts
arts management and/or creative writing, fine art, illustration or photography for our website, printed publications, and public-service ad campaigns.

Art Direction/Graphic Design can include work on our website, print publications, press releases, direct mail and more.

Copywriting – promotional writing for website, publicity and printed publications.

Creative Writing – essays, poetry or short stories that must be of high quality and directly related to self-help or social issues.

MANAGEMENT, FINANCIAL, LAW see also: Leadership Opportunities
Accounting and Financial Management – choose from bookkeeping, accounting, cost-benefit analysis, reporting and/or socially-responsible investing.

Law and Regulatory Compliance – can include employee, volunteer, member and government relations; advice on copyrights; avoiding libel, liability, and other legal exposure; regulatory compliance.

Office – office management, phone calls, photocopying, filing, errands, faxing, word processing, database management, desktop publishing and more.

Carpentry and Interior Design – design and/or crafting improvements for our office space.
